“One Hundred Famous Views of Edo” Moon-Viewing Point

A lull after a party at the pleasure quarter in Shinagawa. Note the platter of sashimi and sake cups at the back of the room, the sake bottle left in the corridor in the foreground, and the moonlit shadow of a courtesan on the shoji screen. Who she is talking to is up to our imagination.
