Tsutsumi Ware

Tsutsumi Ware(Miyagi)
Kiln: Kenba Kiln

Tsutsumi ware is a representative folk kiln of the Tohoku region dating back to the Edo period. Today, only the Kenba Kiln remains. Its defining feature is the bold use of glazes, particularly the technique of pouring both black and white “namako” glazes together. The thick, powerful vessels reflect the natural strength of Tsutsumi clay.
