Suzu Ware

Suzu Ware(Ishikawa)
Artist: Unknown

Fired through prolonged reduction, Suzu ware achieves deep gray to black tones. Produced from the late Heian to the late Muromachi period (late 11th century to late 16th century) in the Noto Peninsula, it was one of medieval Japan’s representative ceramics. After disappearing for about 500 years, it was revived in 1979.
