Kiyomizu ware represents Kyoto’s traditional ceramics. Its name derives from the Gojo-zaka area leading to Kiyomizu Temple, where many kilns were once located. Today, production is largely centered in Kyoto’s Yamashina Ward. Artist Nanzan Ito is a certified Traditional Craftsman of Kiyomizu ware and was also the owner-chef of the fully reservation-only restaurant “thé to thé – Tetote.”
