Established in the mid-Edo period, Fushina ware developed through the coexistence of kilns run by the feudal domain and private kilns, expanding overseas in the Meiji era. Influenced by the Mingei movement in the Showa period (early to mid 20th century), it continues today with works that honor tradition while expressing individual character.
