The Japan Sake and Shochu Makers Association (JSS) is a nonprofit organization composed of producers of ‘kokushu’, which includes alcoholic beverages like sake, honkaku shochu, awamori, and hon mirin. The association was founded in 1953, under the "Act on Securing of Liquor Tax and on Liquor Business Associations". JSS is affiliated with 1,691 members, which include 1,405 sake breweries, 273 honkaku shochu/awamori distilleries, and 13 mirin makers under 47 regional associations.
Our role is to ensure the protection of liquor taxation and the preservation of liquor business transactions to continue the development of kokushu in Japan.
